Question by trackside133: How do I get rid of personal anti virus without downloading anything?
Okay so I was on watch-movies-links.net and I was clicking different links to watch the movie, then all of the sudden the personal anti virus pops up and said something like “your computer is infected with a trojan and its critical.” etc. It said I have to pay for the full version to get rid of it. So I know the personal anti virus is the virus its self, but how do i get rid or it w/o downloading?

Running System Restore

If your computer seems to be unstable, you’ve done a thorough anti-virus and anti-spyware scan, and you’ve been unable to remove any suspected software packages through Control Panel, give System Restore a try. To roll back your computer settings to a previously saved restore point:

# Click the Start button, then select Programs / Accessories / System Tools
# Click System Restore.
# Choose “Restore my computer to an earlier time” then click Next.

Also is anti virus 2009 ligit it tells me i have Trojans all over the place but some of the sources i have not even been on. Is it a scam?

NO DONT it’s a scam rogue spyware program

Here’s how to remove it

(Run this first and if fails run Smit Fraud Fix) (Run quick scan)
Malwarebytes Anti Malware http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html FREE EDITION (one of the free AV to Remove Antivirus 2009)

Smit Fraud Fix http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php Removal Tool

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.
May not be required (Depending on severity & if so DO NOT) Once removed do so!

If you are getting your DSL threw sbc or att/yahoo they have a great set up threw norton, “free”, including firewall. If your internet provider does not offer this I prefer Norton, but other people have preferences different than mine, but with Norton cost about $ 40 a year. I prefer to pay for a good anti virus protection, which includes mail and downloads and some one to contact if you have a problem.

I know it’s an odd question, but I need it for this stupid English assignment: how people have integrated animals into software (bah! this is stupid). Unfortunately, I drew anti-virus. The only example I can come up with is AVG and it’s cheetah logo. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m looking to change the software I am currently using for my dual monitor setup. Right now i’m using Actual Multiple Monitors. I like it, but it keeps sounding off my anti-virus alerts! I used to use ultramon, but it doesn’t really have any settings so I didn’t really like it.

What would you suggest?

Why do you need any third party software? For windows dual monitors works out of the box, quad monitors even works fine with no third party software if you have sli or crossfire.

My computer seems to have a virus that directs you to afake version of my bank’s wesite when you login. It asks for personal financial info such as debit card# and pin. I did not enter any info. My anti-virus software(McAfree) says that the PC is clean. How can I remove it?

Try this:

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter.

If that’s successful, download and run TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It’s tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits:

Regardless of the results, download the free version of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan (still in Safe Mode). This is a direct download link. Copy and paste it into your browser’s address bar, and press Enter.

After that, boot normally and run another full scan with MBAM. It will detect any malware that wasn’t running in Safe Mode.

If the problem still exists, download and run the free Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool:

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe and the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, as updated versions are often made available. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware can be easily uninstalled, should you wish to do so, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

I cant afford one right now so if anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it. I do have a Norton anti virus disk but never installed it cause i dont know much about it and any input on that topic also woild be appreciated. Thanks in advance ,lildlege

Best free one by a LONG way, but still not the best out there.

As for norton, dont install it. It is incredibly resource hungry and will consume more RAM and processor power from you computer than some virus would (although arguably much safer).
