My computer seems to have a virus that directs you to afake version of my bank’s wesite when you login. It asks for personal financial info such as debit card# and pin. I did not enter any info. My anti-virus software(McAfree) says that the PC is clean. How can I remove it?

Try this:

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter.

If that’s successful, download and run TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It’s tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits:

Regardless of the results, download the free version of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan (still in Safe Mode). This is a direct download link. Copy and paste it into your browser’s address bar, and press Enter.

After that, boot normally and run another full scan with MBAM. It will detect any malware that wasn’t running in Safe Mode.

If the problem still exists, download and run the free Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool:

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe and the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, as updated versions are often made available. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware can be easily uninstalled, should you wish to do so, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

I didn’t download it, it just appeared one day and now I can’t use the internet b/c of this it’s saying I hv alrot of viruss so I bought this anti virus thing called kaspersky, but nothing is happening what should I do?????? I’m on my phone btw! :) please help me.

Throw it in the trash, and buy an Apple mac.

Apple mac user since I was 15 (almost 10 years), and I’ve never gotten a single virus, malware, trojan, or a system crash. And Apples don’t need any sort of anti-virus software at all.

How do I know if my computer has an Anti virus?
I am trying to install the Norton Antivirus onto my computer, but when I do, a pop up comes out and tells me that a better Anti virus is already installed and that if I want to continue and install this one, then the better one with automatically be uninstalled. How do I check if this anti virus is already on my computer?

I just bought mcaffee and it really helped I downloaded all of this crap and then when i got my program i found out they were all virusses so i would say yes if you dont mind paying about 20$ I bout a mcaffee membership for like 20 $ and it is for two years and like i said it helped

NO!!! u must not have two antivirus programs in your PC. Sometimes there will be software conflict. You must uninstall one of them. Don’t delete them. you can get free antivirus from the internet I never buy.

You need separate antivirus installs, one on each. When you’re booted to XP anything you’ve installed while booted to Vista either won’t work properly or at all. Conversely, when you’re booted to Vista anything you’ve installed from within XP will be unavailable to Vista. Registry edits are only made to the OS booted, so the dormant OS’s registry remains unchanged by installing software on the active OS. Any software that requires those registry edits (and most do) won’t run if the edits are in the dormant OS’s registry.

My computer is getting slower and slower and now I can’t open up to Windows Explorer things at once [like I can't open the Documents window and then open up the Computer window or something]. I have a Windows Vista. I’ve downloaded Veoh and Audacity and LAME. I use AVG Free Antivirus. Can anyone help?

It is one of those fake Antivirus software programs that is trying to make me think I should download it to get rid of a virus. I’ve tried blocking the web page, but that doesn’t work. I can’t find anything suspicious under programs. Help please. Thanks.

DO NOT TURN YOUR PC OFF OR USE SYSTEM RESTORE! The key to this infection is getting rid of it fast. The longer it remains on your system the more it disables and prevents removal The first thing not to do is click on the X to exit the program or pop-ups if and when they appear. This will only multiply the infection. . Press Alt + F4 to exit the pop-ups. . Next, control panel > internet options > connections > LAN Settings. Make sure the box for use proxie servers is unchecked and that auto detect settings is checked. This should restore your ability to access the net. Next, click on the first link below and choose save. Save the file to your desktop for convenience. Click on the icon and let rkill run. Rkill is not a scanner. It will not scan your computer. Most people think they are unable to download rkill bcoz of it’s characteristics. When you click ro run rkill a black screen will appear similar to that of command prompt. It will say scanning to end the process for known malware. The screen will suddenly disappear. This is where people get confused. You do no receive a warning or any other message of what process has been stopped. Nevertheless, when the window for rkill disappears you are ready to download, update and scan with Malwarebytes. If you already have Malwarebytes on your computer at the time you became infected you will probably need to uninstall it and re-install. This is due to the files being corrupted by the infection on your computer. However, when uninstalling you will be prompted to re-start your computer. DO NOT DO THIS. Simply re-instlall. If you re-start your computer the process for the malware will start-up and you will have to run rkill again and even possibly remove and re-install Malwarebytes again as well. Update and choose quick scan of MBAM. Next, download Hijack This from the third link below and choose “Do a system scan and save log file”. Once the scan is complete the log file will open. Copy and paste the results into the text box of the fourth link below (although the main menu window offers you to upload the file log it is much faster to copy and paste). After pasting, click analyze and wait for the results to display. Scroll down the list to find all entries with a red x next to them. Locate those entries in the Hijack This main window and place check marks in the respective boxes. After all invalid entries have been marked click on “fix selected”.
