Question by kimm: If I purchase a Anti virus cd and it expires in a couple of months, will I have to purchase another disc?
I purchased an Anti Virus disc from Best Buy in October of 2009 and I just received a pop up message on my computer saying my its time to renew my subscription. I have 21 days to renew my subscription. Will I have to pay order to renew the subscription even though I just recently purchased the product in the first place?

I would say no, normally anti virus software are good for 1 (or more) full years starting on the initial installation date. Most (if not all) brands will still continue to work even after their expiration date and will still download the new virus signatures, but wont update the scan engine until you renew.
I would ignor the pop up telling you to renew, and if it doesn’t stop after awhile or if the anti virus does stop working, then contact the vender with receipt ready with dates, price, etc.
