i thought i had avg for free but maybe do i have to re register yearly.cant rid of this company cyber security.tried going back 30 days before seeing the automatic pop ups with addons and pop ups button not allowed but still getting this company.
so again besides avg who has a free, operate word free anti virus download program for window xp?

i would recommend Avast Antivirus as the best freeware

VET, now known as CA is an anitivirus/antispyware suite. It keeps telling me i’ve been infected by the most random things, and insists they are quarantined or deleted, but I have my doubts.

Should i install more powerful software that can detect and delete them for real or is the software i’m using powerful enough?

It could be false positives you’re getting. Go with Kaspersky Internet Security.
