Is it better to subscribe to and install several anti virus software programs into a P.C. simultaneously?

Is a computer better protected with one good anti virus format or with several. Am I just wasting money by purchasing different brands of anti virus software? How dependable are the “free” programs offered by internet providers?

  1. Shane says:

Installing more anti-virus software will NOT necessarily increase the amount of protection your computer receives. Installing different types of protection will though (eg. anti malware, anti virus, and a firewall)

  2. Wendy says:

Install only ONE antivirus software. Installing several causes conflict with each other and might even cause the hard drive to crash.
Some Free antivirus softwares are really very good, some even better then the paid ones.
And NO Antivirus Software gives 100% protection against viruses/trojans/malware or any other threats.
So, install only ONE good antivirus software that will give you the maximum protection for your needs.

You should only use one security program on your computer.

The best one right now is

Norton Internet Security 2010. 2011 soon to be released

    1. No, No, No…you are not better protected by using several anti-virus programs. You will actually be worse-off as using 2 or more can cause a major conflict. One good anti-virus and one good anti-spyware is optimal.

    2. Yes, Yes, Yes….actually you are wasting money purchasing ANY anti-virus software, there are plenty of great free anti-virus softwares that are perfectly good for home or SOHO use.

    3. Maybe, Maybe, Maybe….depends upon who makes the program, internet providers do not create their own…the buy from whatever anti-virus vendor gives them the cheapest deal.

For your Anti-Virus……I would suggest Avast, Avast now includes anti-virus, anti-spyware capability and anti-rootkit components. And all for the low low price of free. You can get it here:

The new Avast 5 kicks some serious keister!

    For your Anti-Adware and Anti-Spyware needs…
    SUPERAntiSpyware:

They have a free version and it’s excellent.

Download and install SUPER, update it, do a full system scan and quarantine what it finds.

Then do a quick scan with SUPER on a regular basis.

Then make sure your built-in Windows firewall is “on” and your will have primo protection at $ 0.00 cost.
